Spot Markets
What is Spot Trading in Crypto? Spot trading refers to buying or selling cryptocurrencies at the current market price for immediate settlement. Unlike futures or margin trading, you exchange actual assets (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) rather than contracts. Transactions happen instantly ("on the spot"), meaning ownership transfers directly to your wallet. How Does Spot Trading Work? Market Price Execution – Trades occur at the live price (spot price). Direct Ownership – You receive the crypto in your wallet after purchase. No Leverage – Only the funds you deposit are used (no borrowed capital). Order Types: Market Order: Executes immediately at best available price. Limit Order: Sets a custom buy/sell price and waits for a match. Example: Buy: Purchase 1 ETH when its spot price is $3,000 → You receive 1 ETH instantly. Sell: Later, ETH rises to 3,500 → You sell for a 500 profit (minus fees).
